Beijing Hutong

   Built in Yuan , Ming ,Qing dynasties , Beijing’s hutong have more than 1000.Most of them built in Yuan dynasty in 13 centuries.‘Hutong‘ was a Mongolian word meaing‘well ‘. People lived around the ‘well’ in the dessert.When Kublai khan took the Beijing as the capital in Yuan dynasty ,hutong was build .

  With the development of the city , many hutong buildings were disappeared .Now the government put about 25 area of the hutong in the city into the special preservation. It is very good place to know the local culture and Beijing city culture .
