  It was important ancient pass .More than 2000 years , the rulers took it as military pass.It was the last gate of the city Beijing, if the front gate was ‘Badaling’.If you controlled this pass , it meaned you almost conquered the city of Beijing.



  Juyongguan Pass at a distance of about 50 kilometres away from the city of Beijing is located in Changpingdistrict.The existing Juyongguan Pass was built in the first year of Hongwu (1368 AD ).General Xu Da designed and built it under his command.

  Legand had it that Emperor Qin (first emperor in china 221,BC ) forced the prisoners ,soldiers and farmers (man farmers for build the great wall ) to live here .

  In Yuan dynasty , the emperors visited back to Mongolia every year and they would stay here for one night.As this pass was the only way to Mongolia。

  In Ming dynasty , Emperor Zhu yuanzhang made the Juyongguan pass as the military pass.As Emperor Zhu destroyed the Yuan dynasty ,and the remnant troops dreamed of recovering the lost territory. So the strengthening of Juyongguan Pass defense facilities were necessary.
